Emotional deprivation rewires the brain
to over-estimate danger.

When Essential Human Needs go unmet for long periods of time it creates emotional deprivation. The foundational structures of your self concept are missing. The brain is starving for love and connection to fill in that missing foundation yet also resists connection at the same time.

Every human encounter is a potential source to fill in these gaps, and every encounter that disappoints becomes a source of pain  This pain builds up and causes the brain to interpret everyone and everything as a potential source of pain. The threat detection portion of the brain malfunctions and overreacts in often embarrassing ways.

This disorder is called Complex PTSD. The fight or flight response is over-active. Others may interpret this hyper-vigilance to be a personality type when in fact it is damage done to the brain from prolonged starvation of the Essential Human Needs. This rewired brain can be passed down through the genes to children, meaning the next generation is born hyper-vigilant.  This hyper-vigilance prevents human connection as the brain resists the love that it is searching for.
