A System of Affluence and Stress

Most Americans have a safe and warm place to live with running water, an indoor toilet, an oven and a refrigerator, transportation to work, a grocery store nearby with a large selection of food to buy, a department store nearby with a large selection of clothing and shoes to buy, a fire department incase of fire, a police department in case of crime, free public education, and countless agencies to assist with each stage of life. People in developing countries don’t have any of these things. Yet Americans have higher than normal symptoms of stress disorders.
